Economics experts

This week we finished up Chapter 3 talking about economics in developing countries. I'm impressed by your knowledge and background experience in this area. Many of the topics we discuss in class are so relevant to what's happening in the world right now.

If you're interested in learning more about what companies in the U.S. are doing to help developing countries, I found a fascinating webpage from Whole Foods supermarket about how this company is involved in empowering communities through microcredit. Click here for more information.

Remember to post your final Journal (D) here by Monday at 9am. The topic is "If Mary Louise visits my city, she should..." I look forward to learning what I can see, do and eat in your country!

We're halfway there!

This week marks the halfway point of our session (midterm). Only a few more weeks to go!

We just finished Chapter 2 on physical anthropology and next week we'll continue in Chapter 3 with a new topic-Economics. I know some of you have experience in this field, so I hope you'll lend your knowledge and actively participate in our class discussions!

Check out this website on "microcredit"-a topic we'll be reading about and discussing in Chapter 3. According to the website, what are some of the "16 decisions" that the Grameen bank adheres to?

Also, please remember to post Journal D with the topic "The strangest thing that has happened to me in the U.S." by 9:00am this Monday.

Surviving the heat?

I hope everyone survived the heat wave we experienced this week! Unfortunately, August will probably get even hotter.

This week we started Chapter 2 and have talked about simiarities and differences between humans and primates. I found an interesting video on termiting that relates the work of Jane Goodall, the famous chimp researcher and advocate we talked about in class.

Rememeber to post Journal C by 9:00am Monday (July 18)! The topic is "A Restaurant Experience in the U.S." I look forward to reading about your eating adventures!

We also have Journal B due on Monday; the journal topic is "My greatest hope for my future." I look forward to reading about your future plans! Please post your journal by clicking below.

If you're looking for something to do in Atlanta this weekend, go to this site for details about various activities and events every week.
